It is critical to use fully dissolved magnesium. Some magnesium supplements contain a magnesium source that is simply insoluble, i.e. unavailable. As a result, it can never be used by reef organisms and thus has no value. If the product is milky white or the instructions instruct the user to shake well, it is likely that a significant amount of magnesium is not being utilized (the same is true of calcium products).
